21ST CCLC Program Director - Hale County

PART TIME

Salary:  $40/hr

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

  • Directs/manages overall daily operations of the 21st CCLC site within Boys & Girls Club of West Alabama in Hale County, with the primary concern for programs and service delivery, supervision and training of staff, facilities management, community relations, and membership administration. Promoting safety of members, quality programs, and positive appearance of the Club at all times.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Outcomes Management

  • Establish, monitor, and evaluate Site programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success that create a 21st CCLC environment that facilitates achievement of strategic outcomes.

  • Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders and organizations.

  • Develop and maintain public relations and recruitment efforts to increase the visibility of programs, services, the number of children participating in activities within the 21st CCLC and the community.

  • Communicates with external community groups, schools, members’ parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize the 21st CCLC.

 

Resource Management

  • Manage annual budgets and control expenditures against budget.

  • Monitor and report expenditures in adherence with assigned overall budget.

  • Ensure administrative and operational systems are in place to maintain the operation of the physical properties and equipment of the 21st CCLC program

 

 

Skill Development

  • Recruit, manage and provide career development opportunities for site staff and volunteers.

  • Develop staff skills in program development and implementation, outcome management, fundraising, membership development, and Board development (as required).

  • Conduct meetings to inform staff of changes in programming, to gain input

 

Additional Responsibilities

 

  • Secures a healthy and safe environment, overseeing the maintenance of Site facilities, equipment and supplies.

  • Makes needed purchases or approves purchase requests.

  • Work with staff on special events to carry out programs in all departments and/or participate in the implementation of other site activities as necessary.

  • Exercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance and discipline plan.

  • Abide by and support the Club mission- to inspire and enable all youth to reach their full potential, as caring, productive, and responsible citizens.

  • Assume other various duties as assigned.

 

Relationships

  • Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with 21st CCLC professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, and provide/receive information. Has regular contact with members as needed to discipline, advice, and counsel. Must be cooperative, friendly, and create a safe and harmonious environment.

  • External: Maintain contact as needed with external community groups, schools, members, parents and others to assist in resolving problems, as directed by the 21st CCLC Project Director.

 

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Preferred Educational background is a Bachelor’s degree in a child-related field from an accredited college/university; OR Associate’s degree in a child-related field and 480 hours of experience; OR Montessori credential and 12 semester hours of coursework in a child-relatedfield and 480 hours of experience; OR valid child development associate credential and 12 semester hours of coursework in a child-related field and 480 hours of experience; OR sixty semester hours of education with 12 semester hours of coursework in a child-related field and 720 hours of experience; OR High school diploma/GED and 6 semester hours of coursework in cahild- related field and 2880 hours of experience.

  • Demonstrated ability in supervision, facilities management, and recruitment /retention.

  • Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and managemen. t

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.

  • Demonstrated organizational, staff, and project management abilities.

  • Possess current certificates in and be able to perform CPR and medical First Aid (or be willing to be certified upon hire).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and proper automobile insurance

  • Must be able to squat or bend to communicate at youths’ level.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 10 pounds for short periods of time.

  • Must be able to participate in physical activities throughout the facility, on the property and/or on field trips.

Regional Mental Health Director

FULL TIME

SALARY
$60,000 per year + benefits - grant funded

Primary Function:

Directs and manages diversion programs in Boys & Girls Clubs of West Alabama and partner programs. Case manages youth, per objectives of grantors.  Support the Boys & Girls Club staff in the Teen Center. Support Boys & Girls Club staff in other areas as needed.

 

Position Responsibilities

Complete intake assessment on all case managed youth.

Create completed file for each case managed youth before they are put on the caseload.

Ensure confidentiality of all case managed files.

Complete all required grant data tracking.

Complete quarterly, mid-year and final reports in time for grant reporting.

Gather information on each case managed youth that represents; school attendance and grades, juvenile justice involvement, family activities, and Club program information.

Meet with case managed youth at, Boys & Girls Club.

Meet with families of case managed youth through home visits.

Manage referrals in and out of the Boys & Girls Club.

Conducts and provides training and oversite for all prevention programming including but not limited to SMART Moves, Passport to Manhood, and SMART Girls at Boys & Girls Clubs, partner programs, and at schools for groups.

Coordinate diversion activities; mentoring, workshops, and other incentive-based activities including sports opportunities for case managed youth.

 

Partnership Development

Develop and maintain partnerships with parents, community leaders and community-based organizations.

Lead leadership sessions for collaborative partners.

Network with parents, school, juvenile justice and other agencies.

Give parents information or plan at least one family activity quarterly.

 

Additional Responsibilities

Represent BGC on appropriate committees.

Effectively utilize a specific prevention, trauma informed, guidance and discipline plans.

Manage or participate in special BGC programs, events.

Consult with parent’s concerning member issues.

Other adjacent programs/activities as needed

 

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Ensure a team-based work environment by communicating effectively and positively with supervisors, co-workers and volunteers. Make recommendations regarding member’s needs, program ideas, and facility needs. Maintain close, daily contact with Club professional staff.

 

External:  Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members’ parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize the Club.

 

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in social work or related field.

A minimum of two years’ experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people.

Knowledge of and experience using proven prevention strategies.

Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group/family dynamics.

Ability to effectively operate a computer and programs used by the Club.

Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems.

Demonstrated ability working with youth, parents, and community leaders.

Participate in continuing education working toward an Associate Prevention Director Certification

21ST CCLC TEACHERS—HALE & PICKENS COUNTY

PART TIME
